Spotlight on: Bari Studio

Hey friends!

Happy Hump Day! I hope you're having a splendid week. For this post, I wanted to share with you all another great experience that I had working out on Pier 25 with the crew from LolĂ«, FITiST, and this time around: the Bari Studio! The combo dance-cardio-toning class was taught by the lovely Audrey, and it involved a lot of choreographed dance moves and a great toning sess that works those glutes like no other!

A few comments about the method: Bari is unique because it's new, and has therefore been crafted using elements from various forms of traditional exercise and fitness systems, including dance, Pilates, yoga, gymnastics, martial arts and sports training. The Bari Studio website claims that it's worked and consulted with physiologists and kinesiologists and even professional athletes to perfect its method which all leads to smarter instead of harder workouts.

Don't get me wrong, though! This routine was tough! The first half of the workout, I found myself pirouetting, skipping, sassy-walking, and grape-vining across the grass, all of which I completed without (phew!) injuring myself or anyone else. I worked up a sweat which certainly made up for the foolishness that I displayed...publicly...for over 30 minutes.
For the second half of the workout, we brought it down to the mat for a series of killer glute, ab, and core exercises. This was by far my favorite part because I love the fatigue that sets in when you know your muscles are working to their absolute max.

To wrap it up, Bari method is definitely an efficient and effective way to sculpt a lean, mean fat-fighting machine-of-a-body. I love that it incorporates the elements of so many different types of dynamic movement, and I think that's what makes it a particularly functional form of exercise. While I would need to get in a few more workouts before I could determine whether its claim to "transform your body and mind in a way you never thought possible" or its guarantee to "feed your desire for the ultimate mind, body and soul reshaping" are more than just rhetoric, I give it points for combining the crucial elements to encourage weight loss and toned muscle. Additionally, it's super fun, you'll break a nice sweat, and you don't already need to be super fit to add it to your existing regimen.

I guess my only criticism is that Bari method isn't very accessible to the average person who can't afford to take pricey classes in a private studio. For that reason, it's not exactly portable like a workout DVD, yoga, or Pilates because it's taught live.

Happy exercising! And don't forget to Live Out Loud Everyday!
