A Site a Day in the Month of May: Greatist.com

Here's a question I've been asking myself lately: Am I "in the industry?" I'm referring to the fitness industry, and while it may seem like an arbitrary question, I've been trying to think of qualifying criteria to use to measure my level of industry "in-ness." So far, I've come up with the following:

1) Do I have a degree or certification in a fitness-related field?
2) Do I work in a gym/fitness center/health club/as an independent contractor?
3) Do I have a desire to help people improve their lives through exercise and sound nutrition?
4) And most recently: Do I recognize/know any of the models featured in Greatist.com Fitness features?!

The answer to all FOUR is a resounding YES! although I'm technically an intern and not "working" in the industry just yet :-)

Suffice it to say that Greatist.com is one of my favorite sites as of lately because I almost always recognize someone I know smiling back at me, beautifully modeling pushup variations or TRX exercises with grace. Not only does that make perusing the site exciting, but it's truly a marvel of graphic design proportions. The layout and photography and clean, crisp, and inviting; while the drop-down menus used to navigate the site are simple and straightforward (For example, under the drop-down menu titled "Eat," you can click on any number of sub-categories: Recipes, Cooking Tips, Superfoods, Snacking, Vitamins & Minerals).

My friend  Kado in a recent Greatist fitness feature!
Greatist.com is a one-stop shop for all your healthy living needs. It's a treasure trove of inspiration for the health-conscious consumer, and really just anyone who wants to give their mood a little boost (i.e. it's perfect for procrastinating at work because you'll have fun, but learn, which means you won't feel as guilty :-))
