You know the famous quote by Thomas Edison, "Success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration"? While it may be a wee bit of an exaggeration, I appreciate the sentiment. You really have to be prepared to work very hard for what you want, and expecting those "a-ha" moments to help you coast through is shortsighted.
To play on this quote a little, I would go so far as to say that when considering health as a measurement of success, the formula is 10% diet, exercise and all the other tangible and physical components, and 90% mindset. At this point in my journey toward optimal health, I have never recognized the power of the mind more than I do now. Your thoughts and emotions make or break your success in the pursuit of health, of that I am 100% sure! While this is a harsh realization to come to come to, it's powerful in that how we manage our emotions and feelings can be reprogrammed to help us achieve our health goals. Through her amazingly inspiring site, Jillfit.com, Jill Coleman helped me reach numerous milestones in my journey. She helped me recognize that willpower is finite and is therefore not something on which to be relied in order to achieve our physique goals; she helped me to learn to employ a practice called "preemptive cheating" to curb my cravings for trigger foods/substances like sugar, caffeine, etc.; and most importantly, she helped me to realize how significant a role the way we feel about ourselves cripples us or propels us toward our goals.
Jill's site is really something to behold. It's a beautifully curated site with content that addresses the pursuit of best health from every angle. I'm a big fan of the articles that join together nutrition and mindset because, at least from my perspective, my mindset is what hinders me most when it comes to making proper nutrition choices which in turn have either positive or negative effects on my physique goals.
