I'm very lucky to have the personal and professional support of my mentors and friends at Body Space Fitness. Many new trainers don't have such a luxury, so where are they seeking support and guidance to make a name for themselves in this saturated industry? I don't know for sure, but I can tell you were they SHOULD be spending some time, and that's navigating the Personal Trainer Development Center!
According to the "About" section on the site, "ThePTDC was built to improve the reputation of the fitness industry and ensure that smart, passionate trainers (you) have amazing careers that are both personally and financially rewarding." Truly, it's like having your own personal business consultant: the sheer volume of free tips, tricks, advice, and programs is incredible.
ThePTDC and its founder Jonathan Goodman are really paying it forward. Goodman curates unique and helpful content aimed at helping trainers make more money and improve their performance by providing daily tips for success, strategies for getting more clients, earning passive income, developing a successful online training business, and teaching trainers to actually be trainers. With contributions from more than 30 of the best trainers in the industry, this a true collaborative effort and a remarkable community of which to be part.
If it interests you, take some time to explore the site in its entirety, but here's my two cents:
1) ThePTDC is great for new and veteran personal trainers alike looking to hone their craft, grow their businesses, and learn from the best in the biz.
2) Goodman and the site's contributors stress that being a good trainer is about more than exercise selection and program design elements; there is good amount of content devoted to the psychological aspects of the industry, helping trainers learn invaluable skills such as how to sell your services to any client; time management skills; how to deal with any type of client, no matter how difficult; how to harness the power of the internet to grow an online training business; and how to get more clients and do better with the ones you already have.
Words of wisdom! |
3) Goodman takes the time to scour the web each week for the best articles and deliver them to your inbox on Sundays, once you take the time to sign up for the mailing list. I also recommend hooking up with ThePTDC on Facebook, and joining the burgeoning community of trainers who recognize that being a good trainer requires taking a holistic approach to the profession!!!
Enjoy your Friday, and we'll see you back here tomorrow!
