You just didn't know which one would get the Healthusiast's stamp of approval first!!!
Enter Civilizedcavemancooking.com, your one-stop shop for amazing, mouth-watering Paleo-friendly recipes. The caveat "Paleo-friendly" should by no means be construed as a insult to Chef George and his culinary creations; I simply feel it's wise to distinguish between strict Paleo and most of George's recipes because he uses items like nut flours, nut butters, and other sweeteners that aren't Paleo. Despite that fact, I have enjoyed many recipes from his blog and will continue to do so since I don't consider myself strict ANYTHING and these are just damn delicious recipes, regardless of where they fall on the "how-Paleo-is-it" scale :-)
If you're not much into the Paleo lifestyle, just do yourself a favor and scroll through some of the website's photography: the website is pure beauty. Chef George's photography skills are second to none, and the site is beautifully organized and curated.
Chef George (George Bryant, founder of the site) gets a lot of flack in the Paleo community for "adulterating" the idea of what Paleo actually is. He has a reputation as the "the Paleo Desserts Guy," which, according to many die-hards, means he's missing the point. Frankly, let them have their arguments: I'm going to eat "Paleo" cake!!!!! After all, there is something to the fact that George's recipes don't contain dairy, most are gluten-and-grain-free, and most sweetener comes from more natural sources like coconut sugar, maple syrup, and honey. Besides desserts (divided into the following subcategories: brownies, cakes/pies, cookies, muffins, everything else), George has delectable recipes for sides/soups, entrees, crockpot, breakfast, and condiments/sauce!
As always, I encourage you to explore the site at your leisure...just try not to drool all over your keyboard :-) My favorite features include:
-My personal favorite recipe: Paleo Banana Bread! This lip-smacking recipe is so easy to make and the result is a smooth, flavorful, bread whose consistency may not be what you're used to, but which really hits the spot for breakfast or a quick mid-afternoon snack.
DEE-licious Paleo Banana Bread! |
-There's an awesome resources page for the reader/recipe experimenter who wants to explore the Paleo foods community more. There are also cool products and gadgets to check out, and George hosts frequent giveaways to those on his mailing lists and who follow him on social media!
