A Site a Day in the Month of May: Mindbodygreen.com

Happy Sunday, and Happy Mother's Day! I LOVE YOU, MOM!

The weather this weekend in NYC has been a little wonky. Yesterday, we had thunderstorms, intermittent rain showers, and high humidity...all of which preceded some glorious sunlight and remarkable skies. I snapped this photo while exiting an art exhibit in the old Domino Sugar Factory in Williamsburg, situated right on the waterfront facing Manhattan:

Just gorgeous.

The weather yesterday was a perfect metaphor for life: sometimes, things don't go the way that you plan. Sometimes, you're going to get stuck in a storm; it's inevitable. The key is to remember that storms are temporary and blue skies are right around the corner. Of course, it's not always easy to think this way, which is why I want to share today's featured site, Mindbodygreen.com with you.

Due to its "crunchy-sounding" moniker, Mindbodygreen.com may not appeal to some folks; frankly, it didn't appeal to me when I first started reading it, either! I was a little turned off by its apparent vegan-vegetarian bias, and felt like a lot of the content didn't apply to me as a busy twenty-something living in such a fast-paced city like NYC. However, first impressions are often wrong, and the more I read, the more I came to appreciate the variety of voices represented by the contributors (some even eat meat!), and the value of the self-help-focused articles. Articles titled "10 Habits of Emotionally Resilient People" and "How to Set Boundaries (Even if You Think you Can't)" may seem like fluff at first, but trust me: these articles are accessible, not pretentious. The tips are universal and applicable. And, if self-help and advice aren't your thing, check out some of the great recipes, exercise tips, even video courses on topics ranging from meditation to plant-based nutrition to happiness.

Mindbodygreen.com will give you some great tools to make it through life's storms, and come out  happier and more resilient!
